HydroMAX Gravity-Flow Pond Filter by Emperor Aquatics for Water Gardens up to 3000 Gallons or Fish Ponds up to 1500 Gallons

We recommend this filter as a good mechanical filter for ponds and water gardens that are not heavily stocked with fish.  It isn't hard to clean but not as easy to maintain as a bead filter.

The HydroMAX is available in 3 different models: 

Standard Model - Includes pads and brushes.  Great for water gardens but not for fish because there is little biological filtration.

HydroMAX Super Model - Same as the Standard Model but also includes a 37-watt ultraviolet water clarifier.

HydroMAX Pro Model - Same as the Super Model but also has the BioChamber Upgrade for increased biological filtration.  Okay for a light to moderate fish load.  We would not recommend it for a true koi pond unless you have other means of biological filtration.

Note:  The 37 watt UV will not perform well on ponds over 1900 gallons unless the pond is located in the deep shade.  There is a slot available where you can add a 37 watt UV (see our HydroMAX 37 watt UV Add-On) to the unit, giving it twice the amount of ultraviolet water clarifying ability. 

All models have 2 drain areas with gate valves to allow easy sludge removal.  All models have an area with brushes that works as a small settling chamber.

This gravity-flow filter is mounted at the edge of the waterfall or pond at the highest elevation.  The Max flow through the unit is 1000 gph.  Any more than that will cause the unit to overflow and drain the pond.  We recommend you install the filter on a by-pass so that only a portion of the recirculated water goes through, especially if your pump pushes more than 800 gph through the filter.  If you have the UV option, this will insure a better performance from both the UV and the filter itself.
